Danish sensation Schodt was a major inspiration for Silk Royal's initial launch, back in May 2009, so it's always a special thrill to feature him on a new release. We're excited to present two brand new remixes by Silence Groove and Sundriver of two of Schodt's most visionary works: "Darkness Into Light" and "Gianni".
Known for sophisticated and exceedingly emotive compositions, Polish talent Silence Groove has received tremendous support from the international trance & progressive community in recent years. A first-time contributor to our imprint, he kicks off the release with a breathtaking progressive take on "Darkness Into Light", which was arguably the standout track from Schodt's debut artist album. Silence Groove crafts an ethereal soundscape from the song's inception, featuring the gorgeous vocal stab sequence from Schodt's original and a variety of hypnotic and lush arpeggio lines, all of which soar above a full-bodied bassline sequence. The main breakdown is blissful and deeply cathartic. We are treated to an extraordinarily beautiful new lead theme and gentle breakbeat, punctuated by the ethereal vocal themes.
Also hailing from Poland, veteran virtuoso Sundriver presents his first contribution to our imprint since his unforgettable remixes of tracks by Shingo Nakamura and Denis Laurent (feat. Kaisa Martina) last year. Thanks to support over the years from the world's leading trance artists, not to mention his own consistent output of inspiring progressive anthems, Sundriver remains as relevant today as he was years ago, when he first received "Record of the Week" honors on Above & Beyond's legendary "Trance Around the World" radio show. Exploring the darker themes of Schodt's downtempo masterpiece "Gianni", Sundriver begins his remix with an aggressive, if not ominous bassline and surrounding atmosphere. His arrangement evolves into a melodically intricate work, with subtle echoes of the original's enduring motifs. The latter half of the track features the moody soundscape in its full glory, including a stunning medley of synth layers.
